COACHING PHILOSOPHY
To engage all players through a ‘game-sense’ approach to coaching that stimulates and develops individuals’ skills across key aspects of the game, which gives them the freedom and confidence to make decisions; through fun, teamwork, challenge, differentiation, individual praise and feedback.

RFU Courses

Qualifications and Continuous Personal Development Courses (CPD)

The new Training Course Suite booklet is available by clicking the following link:

Training Course Suite link

You will note that the Qualifying Courses, Level 1 Introducing Children to Rugby Union and Level 2 Coaching the 15 a side game have been replaced by the England Rugby Coaching Award; those that possess either or both Level 1 and or Level 2 still keep that qualification and do not need to take the new England Coaching Award (You will note they are still listed as a course [though not bookable] and this is to reassure you that your qualification is still relevant). Coach progression is now directed to the specific Age Grade Rugby Old Mutual Wealth CPD Kids 1st Courses that range from u7 to U14 inclusive.

We as a club would like all coaches to attend their AGR OMW CPD applicable to their age group and then the subsequent following course as they progress and develop through the years. This is not mandatory as we are all volunteers however we would like all Head Coaches to follow this pathway.

During your coach development there are also numerous Safeguarding Courses and 15 a side courses available for you to attend to aid your progression as a coach. Please note the Children & 15 a side pathway documents below:

For further development, please see below for dates and locations this season for the England Rugby Coaching Award qualifying courses:

Area 3 Award Courses 2017-18. Q1-2

It would be ideal for U15 coaches and above to hold this qualification, but as with the OMW Kids 1st, we are all volunteers but to mirror the above we at the club would like all Head Coaches to be Level 2 or the new England Rugby Coaching Award qualified. In addition to gaining your England Rugby Coaching Award and developing you as an advanced coach you are then eligible to attend the following Advanced CPD Courses where attendance is necessary to qualify for attendance on a Level 3 and then Level 4 qualifying courses:

Surrey Advanced CPD Course Publicity 2017, 2018 & 2019
Kent Advanced CPD Course Publicity 2017, 2018 & 2019
Essex Advanced CPD Course Publicity 2017, 2018 & 2019
Sussex Advanced CPD Course Publicity 2017, 2018 & 2019

I trust all the above is self-explanatory, however if anyone wants to book any of the above and or needs help, then let me know at barrynolan1965@sky.com

Certainly keep note of this page and the coaches notice board for a list of courses that will be available at the club.
