Club News

RIP Justin

It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of past Club President, Justin Thomas, aka the Earl of Nonsuch. He was 83, and had been in declining health, but he was a central figure in the Club, making a particular contribution by organising the 1980s beer festivals, which brought the Club much-needed and substantial revenue, which met the costs of flattening the 1st XV pitch, amongst other projects. He was selfless, and everything he did was for the benefit of the Club. His were the values of a bygone age – integrity, loyalty, trustworthiness, and honour. We shall miss him.

From Vapid to Victorious as Sutton Secure Status
Sutton & Epsom 49-13 Cobham
Having lost to the basement boys of London Cornish, the Exiles gaining their first win on the road for over a year, Sutton supporters arrived at Rugby Lane with a sense of mild trepidation. Could the proverbial lightning revisit with the arrival of eleventh-placed Cobham who had lost their last eleven matches. For those fearing that the wheels had come off the Black & White charabanc it appears, on Saturday’s evidence, to have passed its MOT and was in perfect working order as the team ran in a magnificent seven tries for an emphatic 49-13 triumph.
