At Rugby Lane we pride ourselves on the involvement we have with our local community. We deliver a variety of programmes to ensure that rugby is accessible for children regardless of their background or household income. Our dedicated team of volunteers work throughout the year to help make Sutton & Epsom and award-winning Amateur Community Rugby Club.

Satellite Schools Programme

Sutton & Epsom work alongside 15 local schools to help create a lasting legacy following the Rugby World Cup. In 2016, we introduced over 500 children to rugby through After-School Clubs or attending School Fairs. This is on top of providing our facilities for several schools to use throughout the season! If your school would benefit from RFU Qualified Coaches delivering sessions to introduce children to rugby, please get in touch.

Summer Camp

The Sutton & Epsom Summer Camp needs very little introduction to the local community. Based on coaching children to play the SUTTS Way, it is a week-long camp in August that actively aims to meet the needs of all who take part, whether they are new to rugby or have been playing for years. 2016’s Summer Camp surpassed all records with over 240 children joining us for the week.

Surrey Youth Games

We pride ourselves on our partnership with Epsom & Ewell Council. One of the ways we achieve this is through our involvement in the Surrey Youth Games. The P&G Surrey Youth Games is a multi-sports competition, spread over two days, in which all eleven districts and boroughs in Surrey enter teams into fourteen different sporting events. We work with Team Epsom & Ewell to deliver the coaching for the Girls Rugby Team, which has won a medal in all the years we have been involved. More importantly, this has been the catalyst of our thriving Youth Girls Section.

Coaching Clinics

As part of our Community Programme, we offer free Taster Sessions to all those who want to get involved in rugby. We work closely with local Guide/Scout groups to gain more interest in rugby and sport as a whole. These are run by RFU Qualified Coaches who will tailor the coaching to the needs of the children/adults involved. So, if you’re a community group who would benefit from these sessions, just ask!
