RIP Ron Bain

It is with immense sadness that we report the passing of Ron Bain. Ron was an integral part of Sutton & Epsom for well over 30 years leading our Medical Team, and revolutionising us from the previous dark days of bucket and magic sponge to the current professional department that he helped us shape.

A true stalwart at the club, his knowledge and skills on match duty and in the physio hut kept many on the pitch long after their sell-by dates. A brilliant clinician and a true professional, putting back together those things we often foolishly broke always with a smile and occasionally an, “I told you so”. A mentor to many a young physio, but most of all a friend to so many of those he worked with and treated, often joining on tours, and always good company.

Some people go ‘above and beyond’ and Ron was the very epitome of this attitude, for which the club, and all his friends within it, will forever be truly grateful. Ron’s dedication to the club was clear as was his dedication to his Country with the work he did at DMRC Headley Court, helping to rebuild the lives of countless service men & women in HM Armed forces. A proud family man who could never keep the smile from his face talking about their achievements.

Our thoughts are with Audrey and their family at this very sad time. Ron epitomised what Sutton & Epsom is about and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
